Thus it was that some two hours after she should have been collected, and while she was enjoying Ethel-ewe’s company and her eleventh cup of tea that Miss Mouton heard a barking and a bleating. She remembered she was lost. She rushed to open the door. She fell into Elly Mouton’s arms. Elly scolded her and hugged her at the same time. “I thought that the gypsies had taken you!” bleated Elly.
But her adventure had one positive outcome. In the future she was permitted to wander around the area of her home more often. Thus, she grew accustomed to the paths, even in the darkness. Elly Mouton trusted her more. Besides, Elly was never late again.
